This feature redistributes phone calls placed from a specific telephone number to a group of receiving lines and uses an algorithm to select which of the several receiving phone lines will receive the caller.
Some service providers offer this for free while others offer free hunting but charge for forwarding. Once the program selects the receiver, the call is redirected there. If that line is busy, the call is then transferred to the next available line in the hunt group.
In the event that none of the lines are open, the caller will get a busy signal.
This feature allows multiline business telephone systems to redirect clients throughout a group of available representatives until the call connects to an open line in one of the departments.
